10 danger signs of pregnancy | Pregnancy warning signs: what to look out for |warning signs during pregnancy |danger signs of pregnancy in first trimester
Hi Girls,
The moment we hear that we are expecting, it is an emotional and exciting time especially if it’s our first baby. Because this is the very first time in our life we are going to experience the motherhood journey!
Now, when I am in my first trimester I can say that a woman is going to notice a lot of changes in her body for the first time during this period.
Many of these changes are completely fine and are considered normal, still there are some symptoms you’ll need to pay more attention to during your early months.
My Doctor has advised me these symptoms to carefully watch for and if I experience any of them she suggested me to consult immediately. I am listing below some of these danger signs in early pregnancy when you should immediately consult your doctor.
It is very important for all expecting mothers to know about this information, as you might ignore these signs if you don’t realise that they can create bigger problems for you in near future. Knowing already which symptoms to watch for helps you to take care of yourself and the little one growing inside you.
Now, let’s talk about when you should be concerned and know that it is the time to talk to your doctor:
1.Vaginal Bleeding – The most important point of concern is when you experience any kind of vaginal bleeding. Doctor told me that if you notice any kind of pinkish or brownish discharge from vagina, bring this to my notice immediately. Little bit spotting is ok, but if you notice a little heavier discharge this could be a sign of “Miscarriage” or “Ectopic Pregnancy”.
2.Excessive Nausea & Vomiting – It’s normal to have some Nausea and vomiting during your first trimester, most pregnant women go through that. But if it is severe and makes you dehydrated, this is something to worry about because you can’t keep any water or fluids down for more than 12 hours during this time. It can lead to weight loss, dizziness and extreme dehydration.
3.Severe headaches with blurred vision-For many moms-to-be, headaches that come and go are part for the course during pregnancy, maybe you got up too fast and you’re experiencing some normal pregnancy dizziness but if your headache doesn’t go away after some rest and/or hydration “They’re a major symptom of preeclampsia.” . A blurry vision that’s persistent or comes with other symptoms, such as swelling, abdominal pain, headache or rapid weight gain could be a sign of preeclampsia or gestational diabetes, both of which require medical treatment. Report it immediately,
4.Fever and too weak to get out of bed -You’re more vulnerable to cold and flu germs while you’re pregnant, so a fever is actually pretty likely to happen sometime while you’re pregnant. Still, let your doctor know if you have any fever of 100.4 or greater. There are a number of viruses and conditions that can cause fever, and it’s important to get yours diagnosed and treated.
5.Severe Abdominal Pain-Some aches and pains are to be expected during pregnancy. After all, baby’s getting bigger by the day, and your muscles and ligaments are doing a whole lot of stretching. The pulling or sharp, stabbing sensations that you might feel on one or both of your sides or over your pubic bone isn’t worrisome. “What you should report immediately is severe pelvic or abdominal pain that’s not relieved by a heating pad, . If it’s accompanied by nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, it could indicate something that needs treatment, And if it’s accompanied by bleeding or other symptoms, it could be miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or a cyst.
6.Swelling of fingers, face & legs - Yup, everything’s getting bigger, and a little bit of swelling is to be expected. But pay close attention to your hands and face. A little puffiness in your face isn’t abnormal. But accompanied with other symptoms—such as headaches that aren’t resolved with medicine, gastric pain, dizziness or changes in vision—swelling in your hands or face could be a sign of preeclampsia. Early detection is important with preeclampsia, so let your doctor know if you experience any of the signs.
