Our lifestyle has now become in such a way in which we need to work and step out of home, in this process we get in contact with many bacteria & viruses and we are very prone to get contaminated with a disease easily.
But, we need to safe and take extra precautions during this time when you are expecting a little one growing inside you.
Today we will talk about some methods which you can apply in daily lifestyle routine, which can help you to prevent yourself from getting "Communicable Diseases".
Fisrtly, let's learn "What are Communicable diseases" ?
Communicable diseases are such diseases which can be spread directly from an infected person to a healthy person by any object that he/she may have touched, contaminated food, contaminated water, sneezing droplets, direct touch, sexual intercourse, by air, by insect bites.
Being affected by any communicable disease during pregnancy is time is very harmful for both mother and the baby.
When we are pregnant our immune system slows down due to the changes in hormones which are happening in our body, making us more vulnerable to catch any disease quickly.
These bacteria and viruses can then easily transfer from the expecting mother to the baby in the womb.
Some of these communicable diseases are common, and hence they remain for a shorter time, however there are others which can severly affect the child growing in the womb with some major birth deffects.
These diseases are sometimes life threatening and even cause difficulties and other complications in preganancy.
Some of the common communiable diseases by whom pregnant women can get affected are HIV virus, Hepatitis B, influeza,chikenpox,rubella,ebola and cytomegalovirus.

1.Wash your hands regularly - Our hands are a major carrier of most of the diseases in our body, since they in direct touch with anything in the whole day. It is very important to wash your hands properly in regular intervals to stay safe from any kind of bacteria and viruses.
2.Clean your vegetables and fruits thouroughly -We purchase veggies and fruits from market, and bring them to our home. But do we know that we are not getting these veggies directly from farm to our home, they have travelled a long journey in between and hence, carrying a lot of infectious bacteria with them. It very imortant to wash them well before consuming.
3.Take regular tests for STD's - It is observed that people suffering from STD's like HIV, usually don't get to know about it on their own if they do not experience any kind of severe illness. Hence, it is really very important to get a check on yourself and get the neccesary test done for these diseases, so that they do not get spread from you to your baby.
4.Maintain personal hygiene- Expecting mothers should also keep a close watch at how well they are maintaining personal hygiene, since during this time your body goes through a lot of changes which include some vaginal secreations. Release of cervical mucus can somehow make you always feel wet down there. So, it is really important to maintain hygiene of your genital area also by washing it properly, cleaning and maintaing dry. Maintaining a good personal hygiene will reduce your risk of getting "STD's" also.
5.Take proper vaccinations- During the time of pregnancy, when your immune system is really low doctor will prescribe you some vaccinations which are required to take at the presribed interval of time, to keep you safe from infections and also increasing your immune power.
6.Avoid getting physical contact with an infected person- Pregnant women specially in their first trimester should maintain a distance from crowded places, where the risk of spreading an infection could be very high. They should be very careful that they do not get in direct contact with ny person suffering from diseases like chikenpox or rubella.
7.Avoid direct contact of your body fluids with a baby- This is only for the case of a virus called as "Cytomealovirus", which spreads through an infected person's body fluids to a healthy offspring. For example, an infected mother can transfer this virus to a baby through her breast milk, saliva,tears etc. This disease can also be transmitted sexually.
